Q&A

Does a person need to pay alimony 10 years after separation? Sept 8, 2022.

If you are separated but still married can a person make you pay alimony even if you have been living apart. I have recently inherited a property would my wife have any claim to it even though we are no longer together. Thanks in advance for any help

Answer:

Well, you have two questions-as to alimony after 10 year separation-the simple answer is yes, it is possible but there are many factors that would have to be examined first, and as to the second question on an inheritance-if you don't execute the transfer correctly your spouse could acquire rights to it as well, so you need to consult an experienced matrimonial attorney to preserve your rights.
